Oriel College exceeds 1,000 donors in 2024–25 financial year

Over 1,000 supporters have donated to Oriel College during the financial year that started on 1 August 2024, with this number boosted by the 218 donors who gave more than £129,000 in response to the latest Giving Day fundraising campaign at the end of June.

Donors from 35 countries took part in the fundraising campaign by making a gift through the online portal, with many writing messages of support on the online donor wall.

“We’re very grateful for all generous giving,” said Marco Zhang, Director of Development. “The breadth of support from alumni in particular is very special, with more than a sixth of alumni choosing to making a donation.”

Donors from 35 countries took part in the Giving Day campaign.

Most donors chose to give without restrictions, meaning Oriel College can direct their gifts to where the need is greatest.

Others, meanwhile, decided to contribute to a particular area of activity, such as student support or restoring the heritage Senior Library and cataloguing its collection of rare books and manuscripts.

Oriel College offers a range of financial support to students including bursaries and travel grants. The extensive provision is largely made possible by donations from alumni and friends.

Anyone can still support Oriel by donating via the Giving Day portal.
